Jim Lance

Chief Geophysicist

Jim serves as the Chief Geophysicist at Sierra Pine Resources International. He joined Sierra Pine with over 35 years of experience as a geophysicist specializing in 2D and 3D seismic interpretation and prospect generation in both onshore and offshore fields.

Jim started his career at Amoco, working the Michigan Basin and Wilcox Trend. In 1988, he transitioned to Sanchez (O’Brien) Oil & Gas as a Geophysicist. While there he continued working on the Wilcox Trend and the Frio/Vicksburg Trend on the Texas Gulf Coast.

Jim worked as a Consulting Geophysicist for KCS Energy and J.M. Huber Corporation in the Wilcox Trend before forming Caliente Energy in 2004.

Jim gained additional geophysical consulting experience working on several plays including the Frio/Vicksburg Trend, Yegua Trend, Eagle Ford Shale, High Island, Mustang Island, and Offshore Ireland.

He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and Doctoral degree in Geological Sciences from the University of Texas at El Paso
