The Thanksgiving holiday is all about eating, watching football and spending time with family. This is also one of the busiest travel holidays of the year, made possible by the hard-working men and women of the oil and gas industry.
The men and women who work in the oilfield are no different from you and your family – we like spending time with our families (especially around the holidays), but it’s not always possible for everyone working in the oilpatch to be home. Rigs run 12-hour tours, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For every rig working, there is a crew of men and women working even harder to make sure whatever method of transportation you use to travel to your loved ones (plane, train or automobile) has the fuel to get you there.
While every hand working in the oilfield would prefer to spend Thanksgiving with his or her own flesh and blood, we have always made the best of whatever situation we find ourselves in. We are thankful to have the opportunity to spend a holiday with our oilfield family.
As you enjoy delicious food and fellowship with family during this holiday season, take a moment to remember the oilfield family. The men and women of the industry work hard around the clock in some of the most remote locations in the world to provide for their families and keep yours supplied with the energy and fuel you need to keep your lights on and your turkey fryers cooking. We hope you eat your fill and enjoy your time with your loved ones. When you think about all that you’re thankful for, please remember the men and women working the rigs to bring in the wells that keep our tanks full.
From our oilfield family to yours, we would like to wish you a very happy and safe Thanksgiving holiday.
